Christian in need or christian advice on what to do about getting married and buying a house…?
So my fiance and I are born again christians… We set our wedding date for June 11, 2011 but we just bought a house because we didnt want the prices of houses to sky rise again and wanted to get our interest rate as low as possible. the only problem is that we have a year away until our wedding date. We dont want to feel guilty for living together before getting married. So, we thought we would get married when we go to las vegas on vacation with his family. The only thing is, its just not how i pictured us getting married. I wanted a big wedding and now i feel like we have to do this so that we are not living in sin together. it kind of makes me sad… Im soo stressed out and i dont know what to do… Should i wait and have the nice wedding i want or do you think its better to be married and not live in sin. A year is a long ways away… We feel like we are stuck between a rock and a hard place
You shouldn’t have to give up your fantasy wedding just because of a house, but neither should you go against the rules of your religion. Have the wedding when you want it, and you can deal with the house using a number of options.
1. One of you can live in the house and the other stay where you are or live with family.
2. You can both live in the house but still abstain. Living together isn’t living in sin, but sleeping together is. What if you slept in seperate rooms? It will still be very tempting though, so you might not want to risk it.
3. Rent out the house to somebody else, use the rent money to pay the mortgage and wont have to worry about it.
Dont do the Las Vegas wedding. If your faith means a lot to you, you should get married in your place of worship surrounded by friends, family, fellow church-goers and in the house of your God. You will regret it if you dont. If you really want to you can have a low-key wedding soon, but dont do it in Las Vegas.
Speak to your pastor or another trusted person of the same faith as you if you need more personal advice, thats what they’re there for.
