do we usually accuse other nations and religions of being single minded, when we Christians are no better. A group of co-workers are outraged at Lindsey Lohan’s French magazine photo cover, where she is in a Christ-like pose, complete with crown of thorns – it’s terrible it’s awful it’s appalling, it should be removed from the cover…these are the same co-workers who said “Muslims” were crybabies and being too over sensitive when their most religious figure Mohamed was portrayed in less then flattering cartoons in Denmark – why is it alright to disrespect other religions but if others disrespect ours it’s a crime ?!
mist covered I am sure you meant to say “some members of a religion” because not every Muslim who was offended killed someone over it…and in history many Christians have killed when they things didn’t go their way either, no one is blameless
It’s a double standard. In civil society, whatever you believe about the rights and wrongs of another person’s religion, you have to accept it has equal validity as a free choice. If you expect respect for your religion you have to be prepared to show respect to other religions. Uncomfortable for those who live with the idea of ‘Christendom’, but we don’t have Christendom any more. Probably a good thing.
